The end of the school year

Here we are at the end of another school year.

Time flies.

It was a good year.

I was more relaxed, I had good pupils and good colleagues.

This week we had the final festivities.

The Physical Education teachers did some exercises at the playground. It was fun.

Schools finished today. And the summer holidays begin on Friday! We still have a couple of days to go and arrange things, paperwork mainly.

In general I am working on various things that I cannot show yet.

In the evenings we always end the day with a relaxing walk at the sea front with Barca.

Sometimes the sunset is breathtaking.

And sometimes we are awesticken.

 Like when the night and the day were in the same view!

This week we had elections at school for the new headmaster and we elected the one we wanted which is good. We also had elections for our representatives.

This week I went out with some girl friends to celebrate the success of one of them.

It's great when things get into place and sail smoothly just like a beautiful boat.

We also went to a book presentation. It is the book Ahyat Anhar by Maro Karga.Our Drama Club presented the book and we attended.

The book is already in my reading list for summer. I even prepared the bag with all the books I am taking to the beach house to read for the readathon15 that I have joined. I still have 13 books to read till the end of 2015. I am sure I will manage.

25th March National Holiday!

We are off school today as it is the National Holiday of 25th March 1821.
It is raining of course! So almost everywhere around Greece the parades were done under rain. It was funny that this year no bars were put around the politicians to protect them from angry civilians. People could attend the parades and enjoy them and afterwards they could dance to traditional dances! Excellent!

We didn't go to the parade. We stayed in and prepared a special dinner for the family!

Mum made her popular cod fish croquettes (salt cod nuggets)with garlic sauce, I made the salads, tomato and green salad, along with octopus salad. And the dessert orange pie.

 The tsolias (Greek presidential guard) was made at school by our talented Art teacher Ms Yiota.

Schools are over!

Yes yesterday was the last day for school. Of course the children left on the 13th, that was the last day for them. But we teachers left on the 20th.
The last day is usually the day when all teachers meet, do a Teachers' Assembly, decide what classes they will teach next year, then go out to dinner.
Instead I had to go attend an English Teachers' seminar which was rather interesting but cost me too much to go there by taxi as it was out of the city. I wonder whose idea that was!But after that I went out with my colleagues for dinner to say goodbye and happy summer!

The Art teacher organised an exhibition of the children's paintings!Of course I loved the ones with the sea theme!

We also did a short half day trip at Planetfc football fields for the children to play and they really enjoyed it.

 The 6th Grade presented their last project about Diversity and Equality. It was great!

 I also loved the Art teachers painting on the subject.

 And of course sports, games, music and songs filled our playground!

Elections are over-Schools are over.

Thank you all for reading along and caring for what is happening in my small country.
The elections ended peacefully yesterday and the conservatives won by a narrow difference to the leftists. What does that mean? That the troica and the European strict austerity measures will continue. I am just hopeful that they have received the message (implied by the great advance of the leftists) that we can't accept these measures any more. We need change and a better life. We will see what happens next.
Schools closed for the children on Thursday, one day earlier due to the elections.
The last week was filled with...
...a day trip at Langadas spa park (we didn't do spa just stayed at the park for the kids to play).

...an honourary prize reception at the Prefecture by the administration office for what we,members of the Teachers' Association Drama Club, offered to the public....

I am the one in the brown dress and hubby is the one with the pink and grey striped T-shirt. The administration manager Mr Kartsiotis is in the middle. Vana Vourtsaki,the lady in blue, is our director.
This year was a good school year. I am in a new school very near to my house, I have new pupils, new colleagues, a new headteacher, a new administration manager. Things went cool, very relaxed and happy inspite the general crisis in my country and I loved that. I hope they continue like that.
