Sustainable development.

Yesterday evening I attended a seminar about sustainable development organised by my school. It was interesting especially on how teachers, parents and the school administration should collaborate in the sustainable development of the school itself.
I hope we will manage to meet again and talk about this and find ways to help.
In the meantime here are some photos of a small garden some students made.

At Jean-Yves' Primary School, they used to have a small vegetable garden behind the school, and each class would do some gardening by turns!! The idea had come from one of the mothers on the parents' committe and it is still going on...

Ariadne, so wonderful to see the children digging in the earth, learning about the world around them in a physical way, and taking responsibility for the world they live in - thank you for the inspiration!

This is a great project. I wish they would do something like this at our elementary school. Some years ago our womens's group bought the equipment for an outside playground for the kindergarten. It still looks very nice but it would look even better if some flowers were put up iin the mainly empty beds.

A wonderful project! The kids look like they are really enjoying their garden.
It reminds me on how much I hope to have an garden of my own one day. :)

This is truly a wonderful sight to see.....children given the opportunity to expand their world outside the 4 walls of a classroom. How sad in the States there are schools where recess (outdoor playtime break) is being discarded. Why? It takes away from the learning......... how ludicrous is that!! No room for individual expression or imaginative play or developing socialization skills. Kuddos to your school for encouraging and fostering sustainable living concepts in the children!!!
