A new month ...

...started and it is raining for days now! I don't like it at all.
So I prefer remembering last Sunday when in the morning under the sun we had a memorial family service...

...and in the evening we had a lovely walk at the beach with amazing colours....

I made a March bracelet of course, this time with beads...it is supposed to protect your skin from the sun of March!LOL!

This week we met with an old friend of mine.
We also went to the movies and watched "Riverbanks" (Ohthes) the movie where hubby's Godson Andreas Konstandinou is starring. It was good!

 I also had coffee with my friends this week.And enjoyed the hyacinths and koulouri,

 coffee and quince jelly made by my friend Stella.

 We did the usual power walk even in the rain...

... and I still took some photos...

 ...and we enjoyed coffee with the family! See the blooming tree? Spring is somewhere around the corner!

Reading Challenge 2015-February

You can read all about this So little Sleeping and so much Reading challenge here and about the books I read in January.
In Februaty I managed to read only a couple of books (yes indeed only two).
First Naguib Mahfouz' One hour remains (or The Final Hour) in the category of A novel by an African writer. I loved the book. I hope to read more of Mahfouz' books in future.
Although Mahfouz is Egyptian and therefore considered Arab in culture Egypt is in Africa so it was ok.
 I got the book from the library as I didn't have any African books at home.
The photo of the book is taken with hubby's Zimbabwean traditional mask. It is a souvenir he brought from Victoria Falls.

The next book I read was a gift from my dear old friend Dora.
It is Jorge Bucay's The road of spirituality. I enjoyed it. I am not sure I became more spiritual though!
Photographed with a stone that has my A from Ariadne letter on! I always look down when I walk roads!

So little sleeping and so much reading chose some photos again to show in their site.
Among 209 mine is there again too! I guess the mask had something to do with it.
A final word. I had thought I couldn't follow such a challenge but here I am and I am really enjoying it!

Kyra Sarakosti (Mrs Lent)

This is an old Greek custom.
Mrs Lent is a type of calendar that people had in older times to count the weeks from Clean (Ash) Monday to Easter Sunday!
There are seven weeks so she has seven legs.One for each week.
She is in a praying position and she hasn't got a mouth because she fasts and does not talk during this period.And she hasn't got any ears because she doesn't hear during this time.
Because Lent means a turn towards our inner self, and in order to become chastised (purified) we abstain not only from food but also from all our bad habits...we don't see, we don't listen to, and we don't comment on what others do but we turn into our own improvement.

This is an exhibition that is taking place in our school organized by our great Art Teacher. She asked children and parents to work on their own Kyra-Sarakosti (Mrs Lent) and these are the works of art that were gathered. Aren't they fantastic?

 This one is my favourite!

It's March already yes!
This last week of February was a cozy little week that started with a day off as it was Clean Monday (Ash Monday).
We spent it by ourselves as the weather was bad and we simply walked the seafront. Some people were trying to fly their kites. Some did...

...some didn't....

 More walking of the sea front took place this week...(I'm sure some of you might be really sick and tired of those photos!)

 This Saturday we voluntarily took part in a movie as extras. We pretended to be unemployed people standing in a line. Three hours in the cold but that was one more new experience!

 And of course I took the chance to look around me!
See? Spring is almost around the corner!

 And I loved those graffiti walls.
