In the end of September....

...here are bits and pieces of things that happened in September! I promise the next blogpost will be about October!
Of course we took part in an antifascist demonstration when Pavlos Fyssas was murdered by a GoldenDawn member. You can read about this very sad event here. You can here his music here.

We presented "Koutornithia", our children's play at the Festival for eco friendly products..

We walked to the city centre for the No-Car Day.
Doesn't this photo look like New York? It is the Central Library.
And Barca didn't really like this policeman!Although he was very nice to her!
We attended two out of the three weddings we were invited at. The other one was in Athens, that's why we couldn't go!
The favours of the two weddings!
Of course you know what these jars are going to be filled with!
My son and I made this very sweet recipe in September which he found on the net.
Melt chocolate chips with a bit of milk and add a few marshmallows cut in small pieces.
Pour the liquid chocolate in a baking pan. Top with marshmallows.
And grill for a couple of minutes!Be careful they burn very fast!
 Eat with a biscuit!
We took part in a teachers' and civil servants' strike day and demonstration!
We performed a shadow puppet play at the Syriza Youth Festival at Pavlos Melas Military Base.
There I spotted these very strange flowers.

In general it was a very beautiful place.

And I guess that's all about September!

A walk at the sea front on a cold sunny strike day.....

On a chilly sunny September morning I didn't go to school. I went on strike along with hundreds other teachers and thousands of civil servants against all the awful things that are happening in Greece.
This time hubby and I decided we wouldn't go to the usual demonstration but instead  we spent a quiet morning at the sea front just us and Barca, my coffee and the wonderful view.....
Don't you need such moments at times, away from everything?

Enjoy your weekend!

Demonstrations

I went to two demonstrations yesterday while I was on strike.
In the morning...
(I always take the chance to take photos of sites or whatever I find interesting during the demonstration like this beautiful ancient wall in the city centre)

(and this beautifully painted ugly wall)
(The Arch of Triumph or Galerius Arch)
 (Truck drivers demonstrating)
 (Pigeons watching the demonstration)

...and in the afternoon...

(which was spoilt by the sudden very heavy very cold rain!)
We took refuge under the tent of a book bazaar and of course bought some books!
And OF COURSE the strictest measures ever were adopted by the Parliament!

Strike and demonstration

Today it was a strike day in Greece. All sectors public and private were on strike. Of course not all people went on stike but a lot did. And a lot went to the demonstrations. I decided to go on strike and miss more than 80 euros from my next salary but one has to fight somehow in order to stop or reduce all those inhuman measures that the government has imposed on us.
Hubby and I walked for more than four hours all around the city centre demonstrating along other groups of teachers and other workers.
The day was sunny and hot and it was great meeting fellow colleagues from other schools demonstrating along and seeing the streets filled with people.
Of course as always I loved taking pictures and especially of the beautiful buildings of the city centre.
 Here is the Forum.

 Saint Demetrius Church
Look how many people and more that you cannot see.

Some took precautions against gas weapons from the police but thank God in Thessaloniki there were no problems or fights with the police.
Taxi drivers took part in the demonstration too.
Raise your hands against the unfair measures.
 Nice fountain.
The Minsitry of Northern Greece where all demonstrations end. Among the people Teacher Dude the photographer and Englsih teacher whose blog Teacher Dude's Grill and BBQ  I follow. If you want to see photos of my city and objective reports about the situation in Greece you can follow it too.
The White Tower the landmark of my city after the demonstration.
