Easter 2015

In between doctors' appointments and all the trouble with hubby's stone passing we decided we could not go to the beach house this Easter. This was our first Easter away from the beach house since 2006. And the weather was so good!
But still we had a great time in the city with family and friends.
So here is how we spent it.

  • Church going.

  • Meeting my nieces who were in town from Athens for an hour on their way to their village.

We only managed to walk the seafront and have a coffee and chat but it was fun!

  •  Spending Easter Sunday at my best friend Gia's house in the suburbs.

We made kokoretsi.

 The food was delicious.
As you can see everyone is on their plate!

 I contributed with pasta salad.
That chocolate pie was divine!
And so was the homemade strawberry cake.
We walked around in nature a bit after dinner.

And I collected some branches for my new vase!
And here's my friend's gifts to me.Easter bread and eggs and chocolate...
...and this great book.

  • In the evening of Easter Sunday there was the most beautiful sunset!

  • Spending Easter Monday at the seafront...

... and with the family.
Lots of food this week!

I should go on a diet all next week!

Epiphany Day.

One day the weather is fantastic like on Thursday when we went for coffee with our friends and the next day it is windy, rainy and cold and you have to stay inside.
One good thing was that we had invited my brother's family for lunch so we didn't have to go out.
I spent the morning cooking and we had fun around the table and afterwards trying to take a family picture to send to relatives and friends abroad.
Setting the table....
Mum's rice, various cheeses and ham, green salad, three coloured salad, beef stroganoff, cheese salad with olives, mum's stuffed vine leaves...and not in the photo rabbit stew....
Desserts.....various chocolate from around the world.......
 Chocolate mousse and strawberry jello....
Vasilopita(New Year's pie) made by my best friend Gia....and Maija watching!
My niece can make you say cheese in seconds but you can't stop laughing afterwards!

Happiness is a gift.........

Tonight we watched a movie...and I say we because, against all odds, both my love and my beloved son stayed up till late and watched the whole of the movie, intermissions and all. It was Nicholas Nickleby. I had read the book as a teenager as most of Charles Dickens' books as he was one of my favourite authors, he still is. We loved the movie, too.
Part of it was supposedly taking place in London and part in Devonshire, one of England's most beautiful countryside counties. (My sea glass friend Ian lives there!).
So much green, beautiful little houses, the atmosphere of poor London, a college that handicaps and punishes severely its students, the mean and the good heroes, all of those characteristics in a movie that attract you to watch it.
My love said I would have loved to live in England at that time. I know that somewhere deep inside me I feel as if I have lived in England in some other life, if such thing exists. Otherwise why do I adore anything English, the language, the literature, the nature of the countryside, everything! Even my blog is in English and it is not my mother tongue. I dream in English, too!
And the movie ended with the words......." Happiness is a gift...." and I felt so happy having the chance to watch this movie with my dear ones! Goodnight!
