Back at last!
YES we are back! We returned from the States on July 30th, went straight to the sea and returned yesterday to the city!
So where to start? Oh I don't know!
And there are so many things to do that were left behind. And so many things to tell you about our trip!
But first things first!
We are in the city before the school year starts (on the 1st September) because we are rehearsing to take part in a theatrical competition of amateur theatrical groups with "Griothesia" our adult play.
We will take the play to Orestiada and hopefully we will do well.
Any local friends come and see us on Thursday evening!
It has been 15 years since the festival started. This year it is dedicated to Zoe Laskari.
You can find the whole programme of the festival here. I borrowed the photos from their site.
These are the judges! All very well known actors and actresses.
And these are photos of the 6 plays which were chosen out of 34 to take part in the competition from all over Greece!
Wish us good luck!
I will start posting blogposts about our trip as soon as I make files of our 8000 photos!!!!!!!!!!!

A huge list!
So many things are happening around here and I am so so busy therefore things had to be prioritized! So no blog reading(ok, just a couple!), no e-mail answering or blog writing! Or facebook! It sounds like I am taking time off from the computer, right?
Well I will come back on that at a later post.
For the time being there is a huge list of things that have to be done before the end of the school year and before summer comes and before the end of June!!!!!!
I finished a series of medical tests and doctors' appointments! I had to do that!
I finished the tax papers!Oh yes! That's a big relief!
I finished the self-evaluation school unit reports and we will have to present them next week so that's almost off my chores list too!!!!!
The University students from The English Department have been at my school since the end of April and they have been following some of my lessons and have been teaching to some of my classes, so that adds some extra work on me too!
My son is studying to sit for his entrance University exams again in ten days so I have to keep a close look on him as well.
The weather is getting warmer so washing, ironing and arranging clothes in wardrobes is a must!
Certain phone calls had to be made as ....the end of June is coming!!!!!!
Also the elections (municipal, area and European) are on the next two weekends, so that means having to decide who is going to win my vote and at the same time see how the school material will be distributed evenly as some days will be lost due to the elections. And grades have to be given in.
And at the same time the theatrical performances of our team have not finished! Like for instance today we are acting our adult play "Griothesia", remember that funny old women's play, at the Thermi Cultural Centre for the Social Clinic, so those of my local readers who would like to see us do come at 8 in the evening. It is free entrance but you could give some medicine to the Clinic to help with their work!
Also the International Book Fair is taking place and I'd love to pay a visit tomorrow, probably after Mother's Day meetings. Our team is also presenting a book there tomorrow at 6 in the afternoon and we will be attending too.
So as you can see there are really too many things happening!

Moments in time that made me happy
Back in December 2013...
Receiving my niece's engagement favour....
Spotting a beautiful robin outside the Byzantine Museum who actually stayed put for me to take a photo of....
Enjoying the colours of this poster at the aforesaid museum.....
Moving my camera while taking night shots of Thessaloniki lights....
Finding this vintage Oshkosh suitcase on the curb...
Visiting the War Museum....(No, I don't really like War Museums, although they are in fact History Museums)
...where the Teachers' Association Drama Club (us included) presented the book "Cornelius and the star with the colours", a book written by doctors for the children with cancer. The presentation was organised by Lampsi, the organization of parents with children with cancer.
You can watch the presentation here.
The last two photos are taken from the Lampsi site.

Performances and book presentations.
Mainly for my local readers here's what I will be up to this weekend.
Today Friday and tomorrow Saturday and also next Friday and Saturday (and who knows how many more times) the Teachers' Association Drama Club Dithyramvos ex Amaxis (us included) are presenting once again "Griothesia", our play for adults with the funny scenario of two old women being adopted in today's Greece by two families to share their pension. Lots of laughter! At 9 in the evening at the little theatre of Paravates at Pylaia. You have to phone and book. Free entrance!
And tomorrow Saturday 18th at 12.30 at noon at Ianos bookstore our team (not us though) are presenting a book by a fellow teacher again. It is "Η μοναξιά των συνόρων" (The loneliness of the borders) by
Glykeria Grekou.
It's the story of an old woman, a teacher, who becomes friend with a young immigrant.
So if you are in the neighbourhood(city centre) join us to attend!

Two book presentations and a performance.
I guess you might be tired to read all about the same type of performances and things I do with the Teachers' Association Drama Club but that takes a very big part of my life so I have to show you.
It was last week we attended an evening of a book presentation.
Members of our team (not hubby and I) presented Agis o Mathimagos (Agis the Maths Wizard). It is the story of a little boy who was afraid of Maths! Oh well, I was always afraid of Maths too. The book is by the talented Helena Artzanidou who is also a kindergarten teacher and it was presented at Ianos Bookshop.
The presentation included prose, games and puppets.
We then all went together at Cafe Palermo. Coffee was good but the atmosphere of this cafe was maginificent! It was filled with antiques and glassware. I was of course mostly attracted to the latter.
And there among other items I spotted a piece I also have, a jar for spoon sweets. The spoon sweet was put in the jar with the lid and the spoons in the one next to it. I have exactly the same pattern as the jar with the lid.
But look at this collection!
There was also a collection by a pottery painter but unfortunately I don't remember his name.
And my favourite piece....
Hubby of course took much better pictures!
And last but not least my favourite of his photos, a lamp on top of one of the dressers.
Our team (again not hubby and I ) are also presenting this Friday at 7.30 at Protoporia Bookstore the book Zahara . I had blogged about the previous presentation of that book here. Those of my local friends who missed that presentation might want to attend this time.
Last but not least this Sunday our team (me included) will present our children's play Koutornithia at Thermi Cultural Centre for the Kinoniko Iatreio (A free clinic for people in need, unemployed and uninsured). You can attend the performance for free and you can also bring medicine to give to the clinic to cover their needs. We will be happy to see you there!
It will be another long weekend and I haven't even yet blogged about the previous one!!!!!!
