Easter
Since we are mainly Orthodox here in Greece we celebrateEaster
way long later from now and I haven't decorated with
Easter
decorations or eggs yet, so I haven't much to say.
But this Monday is Clean Monday and the 40 days of fasting for
Easter
begin and we have what we call Sarakosti (40 days) and there is already some decoration at school. The mother of one of our pupils sent to her daughter's class this Kyra Sarakosti (Mrs Lent).
Her face has no mouth as she is not supposed to eat or comment on other people during this period.
She has 7 legs as many as the weeks before
Easter
and each week the class will cut one little leg.
Last year the Art Teacher had organized an exhibition of all these ladies pupils and parents had made. You can see them in this blog post.
For the time being I can only wish my friends abroad
a happy Easter
as it soon comes to them and if you like link your blog post with a theme about
Easter
to Our Beautiful World.

Thank you Ariadne, for this most interesting, beautiful post.
Wishing you and yours Good Lent.
Very interesting! I like the idea of not commenting about other people. Much more useful than giving up certain foods for Lent!
Wonderful images at school and tradition of Great Fast (Postul Pastelui in here)! Easter is in may to celebrate in our country, as well! To all abroad: a very wonderful time at Easter!
Best regards!

Η πιο ωραία Σαρακοστή που έχω δει! Θα την προσπαθήσουμε!
It's fascinating knowing more about Easter in your country. I love that the girl has no mouth so she can't comment . . .

Interesting story...thanks for sharing this :)
I LOVE this Lent tradition, of which I did not have any knowledge. At my church we are observing Lent too, and will not begin our Easter celebration until Paschal Sunday. However, I start working on my Easter projects early, so I can present them to my daughters on Easter Sunday. It's been a tradition since they were little girls, and I'm just not ready to give it up. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cultural traditions and Blessings, my friend!
She is very beautiful, yes! And such a wonderful tradition with the kids. Wishing you a peaceful Lent, xx
What a lovely Mrs Lent. Thanks for sharing.
I love Mrs Lent and yes, great idea about not commenting on other people. Thanks for sharing this custom with us.
