Our trip to the U.S.A. (19) -The Book Barn

After the library we started for our day trip.
First we stopped at the dump to leave some recycling materials. As we were in a hurry I only looked very quickly at the "treasure" table! Look what was there at the time!So many beautiful useful things!
I'm not sure I took something that day, maybe a mug.
Then we stopped somewhere in the middle of nowhere or that's what I thought.
And it was a book shop...not the conventional bookshop you will find elsewhere....
At the parking lot there was even a Cadillac.
The book shop is called The Book Barn and it is in Niantic, Connecticut.
It is a vast area with little huts and houses filled with second hand books ...thousands of second hand books...separated according to theme....
First it is Ellis Island where books are bought and arranged before going into the other little houses. According to their site they process about 8 to 10 thousand books a week!Wow!

 What to choose?What to buy?

Here is the Haunted Book shop!
 Lots of little gardens.

 The poetry book section.
You can relax in one of the gardens playing chess.

I so enjoyed it there! I could stay for hours!
 And so did our puppet!

Then we went further to Niantic trying to find another Book Barn store.

Mystic nearby is famous for its aquarium so everything in the town is around this theme.

Before going to the Aquarium we passed through the grounds of Eugene O'Neill Theatre Centre.

The area all around was beautiful and there were lots of beautiful houses on the way to the aquarium.

Moments in December.

It is February I know and I have to finish up all my 2014 blogging posts( well apart from the U.S.A. trip that is impossible to finish very quickly.
So some of the things we did in December...
...we attended one more book presentation by our Teachers' Association Drama Club on a book called Ki esy mama to halva sou by Helena Artzanidou,
we walked the sea front a lot,
we attended the book presentation of Mertzani by Martha Patlakoutza,

we walked the city centre where all kinds of art and lights were installed,

we went for coffee at Kalamaria square where children were enjoying themselves for Christmas inspite the cold,

and finally we went for a performance of Griothesia in Neos Skopos, Serres.
We did lots more too but they have already been told in other blogposts!

I was a birthday girl this week.

It's already February 1st!Wow!
One more week (and a whole month in fact) flew by!
Somewhere between floods and disasters happening everywhere in Greece due to the bad weather and a new leftist government in discussions with the Europeans, causing unbelievable positive and negative reactions at the same time all over Greece, this little girl here (that's me) had her birthday!
As I mentioned I didn't celebrate it  but I was really happy to receive some gifts and I am showing them today.I know more are in the post somewhere so I will show those when I receive them!
First hubby bought me a new mobile phone. Not that I needed one but he insisted!
He also gave me some money and I got myself three pullovers since it is sales time here. I hadn't bought anything for ages and I didn't even know what size I was!!!!!
The two are Bershka and the bottom one is H&M.
I also received lots of phone calls, facebook messages, SMS, e-cards and a couple of cards on the mail.
This one from my dear friend Maria Jose in the Acores,
this handmade one from my dear friend Carolyn from England,
and this one from dear Juliana in Scotland. It's a Victoria &Albert Museum card.
Juliana also sent me a birthday gift and a Pay It Forward gift (a facebook game)
Here is what there was in her parcel.
Chocolate of course, Crafts Beautiful magazine with a quilling set,
felting wool, sequins, buttons ribbons and beads in gorgeous hues of blue,
  a little cute Barca ornament,
 this butterfly was hiding...
...a gorgeous set of sea glass wired wrapped earrings and pendant made by Alienstoatdesigns on etsy and ebay.
 some lovely soap,
a set of lovely sea glass fridge magnets Juliana made herself,
and a very beautiful tote bag printed with a photo of her sea glass made by SusanSeamaiden.
Juliana thank you, you have been very generous with me always.
This week I also received a lovely pair of earrings that I had won on a giveaway a long time ago on Efzincreations blog.
The earrings I had won were a Christmas design. They never arrived so sweet Triada of
The Purple Balloon gave me a second chance to choose another pair and I chose this lovely cupcakes earrings pair which arrived in time for my birthday!Thank you Triada!
And thank you Zina for hosting the giveaway!
