My happy

This week's prompt in Our Beautiful World is
My happy
chosen by Ros of Mikeys Mum blog.
There are a lot of things that make me happy.
I guess having a beautiful family, a  house and a job in a peaceful country is what makes all people happy. Unfortunatley not everyone can have it all.
Doing sports, hobbies and travelling makes us happy too. Although some people are unable to do these things or can't afford them.
So here's some of
My happy
during last week's visit of our friends Margrit and Bullent from Istanbul.
My happy is when friends are visiting...
and we walk the sea front together....
spotting newly married couples having their pictures taken.
My happy is when we take friends sightseeing on a sunny day to beautiful sites in the city like
Yedi Kule...

spotting details like this Classroom in the former prison...
or this poppy blooming on a wall....
My happy is when we coninue our sightseeing tour to Vlatadon Monastery looking at the lovely view....

and seeing all those gorgeously "painted" peacocks

and stopping at Trigoniou Tower to take our picture.
My happy is visiting the suburbs of the city under lovely weather....
like Nea Mihaniona,
 with its church

Angelohori, spotting people windsurfing....

 and having coffee at Perea,

 spotting little sparrows feeding...
 and some brave people swimming....

and shadow and light playing games...
My happy is visiting museums with friends like the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art looking at art

which can be really funny some times...
and having the chance to buy some things at the flea market!
My happy is having lunch with friends at our favourite place To Elliniko
although outside it is raining cats and dogs but still it is my happy because there is no thunder or lightning!
My happy is looking at all the treasures we bought at the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art flea market...
books...
 pottery, glass and Easter eggs....
 and porcelain lamps....
and afterwards enjoying "our" movie "Ouzeri Tsitsanis" together with our friends and eating pistacchio baklava, my favourite!
My happy is all that and more!Hope you are enjoying life too!
Why don't you join us with what makes you happy in Our Beautiful World?

A lighthouse nearby.

I love lighthouses!
We don't have many working lighthouses here. And usually lighthouses are not reachable.
Believe it or not I didn't know anything about this lighthouse.
And when I read in this blog about a trip there I talked hubby into it. I told him the first sunny Sunday we find we will go there! And it was last Sunday!
I thought at first that it was far away but no it isn't.
So ladies and gentlemen this is day trip to  the lighthouse at  Megalo Emvolo.
First you go through Perea and Agia Triada and before going to Mihaniona you turn right towards Angelohori (Angels' village).
And you reach this beautiful view.
 We walked on the boardwalk.
And watched the lighthouse from far away!Or it watched us!
Everywhere old nets leftover from the fishing boats.

And cats eating what the generous fishermen give them.

 Old rusty cranes.
 Old shabby huts.

 Seagulls everywhere.

And a beach to go sea glassing!

 With very little sea glass!

 But very clear waters.

And the salt fields that were founded here in 1902.

 Spring is coming!
And we decided to have something to eat before going to the lighthouse.
We ate at Barbandonis. We were impressed by their service. They welcomed Barca and put a table outside for us to sit with her!And since it was sunny and warm it was really good to sit outside!
We had fish, fishballs, salad with tsipouro of course.
 Everyone watched our meal!

There were lots of stray dogs that barked to Barca but were generously fed by the restaurant owners.

And then we went to the lighthouse.

It was built in 1864 by the French Lighthouse Corporation.
In 1883-1885 the Germans built a fortress in front of it.

During the German occupation it was used to watch out for the enemies and was bombarded by the allies.
In 1948 it was repaired and was working again.
In 1963 it became an electrical lighthouse but stopped working 30 years ago.
It was repaired again in 2010 but is not working.
I don't know if one can visit it.
When we entered the area which has open doors and a military base nearby the lighthouse was closed. Still it was gorgeous.

Another good things was that Barca was not car sick this time either which means that she will be our companion on all our day trips from now on!
We suggest you visit the area. It is lovely!
