Every year I choose to use a couple of calendars and diaries.
I love writing down what happens every day, things to do, lists and more lists!
That's how I am and I don't forget things in this way.
I have school work lists, reading lists (what I have read and what to read), stitching lists, mail lists (what I received and what must be written and sent),birthday lists, appointments lists, meetings lists, chores lists, bills lists etc etc
That's why I need lots of calendars and diaries!
For 2016
I put up the calendar Wonders of Hungary my friend Andrea brought me from her country this summer.
And that's the January page! I jot down important appointments and dates here.
I write my daily memoirs in the 2016 diary I was given as a gift from The Smile of the Child after our Luxembourg trip.
I keep notes and appointments in my Pygolampides agenda in my bag. Local friends can find it for free in this link here. It has got lots of handicrafts and information inside.
This is the organiser I have at school. So very English.
I keep handicrafts notes (what I make every day) in this Mollie Makes craft calendar that was included in the December Mollie Makes issue that my friend Juliana sent me as a gift. It had lovely stickers with it and I use them in my diary.
And I also decided to print this free downloable Alisa Burke calendar and use it for more notes on my desk. I printed it on different colour for every month but it will also look lovely in white and you can colour the pages in.
Last but not least I am making a stitched calendar for 2016.
I joined in a SAL (=Stitch Along) and will be stitching this calendar every month along with hundreds of other stitchers around the world. It is free so if you like cross stitch join in!
You will find it on facebook but also on this blog here. It is the Stitch Along The Joyful World by the Snowflower Diaries.
I have already stained my white fabric and have already started stitching it. Barca always follows me while stitching! She seems to enjoy seeing me relaxing!
Are you keeping any kind of diaries or calendars?
Have a great 2016!

The first week of February.
While watching the new policy statements by the new Greek government on television (all channels are showing this) I am trying to remember what we did this week to show you.
It's good that I have my photos to help me.
So starting from last Saturday night...
We really loved their puppets and bought some and they were very kind to give us some as gifts too. Don't you love that little mouse?
And as always I loved looking around me!At the gorgeous landscape of Thessaloniki.
While doing power walk you can't possibly take pictures but from time to time I stop to take some pictures. And as hubby's old camera didn't prove very good I decided to take photos with my new mobile from now on until I buy a new camera. Just tell me if you like my photos better.
Especially when the weather is so good like yesterday morning the Greek light helps taking good photos I think!
And sometimes I am in such a hurry to catch a moment that my finger tip comes in front of the camera ...just like a big sun, right?
Barca loves those walks at the seafront as well because she meets friends.
And I love collecting some sea glass at the tiniest beach at the sea front!
It's good that I have my photos to help me.
So starting from last Saturday night...
- we met with some shadow puppeteers and one of them invited us to his performance the next day.
- So last Sunday morning we attended Konstandinos Koutsouplis and his team Skies kai gelia (=Shadows and laughter) at a great shadow puppet performance with dinosaurs.
We really loved their puppets and bought some and they were very kind to give us some as gifts too. Don't you love that little mouse?
- Then we spent an evening rallying peacefully for the Greek government and its fight against the great pressure against Greece and its debt towards Europe and the International Monetary Fund.
And as always I loved looking around me!At the gorgeous landscape of Thessaloniki.
- We went to the cutting of the New Year's pie with the Teachers' Association Drama Club. We had fun, ate and danced and met some old friends.
- We kept doing our power walk for long distances every day as the cardiologist suggested to both me and hubby.

- Last but not least today we had coffee with the family enjoying the sun just before a huge snowstorm weather forecast.

This week I also finished a book, made a sea glass felted stone, I listened to some good music, but all that to another blogpost!
What did you do this week?

Online purchases and promoting friends' work.
Although I love online purchases this time for my Christmas gifts I tried to be strictly in the budget because of the trip to the Peloponnese. Also I tried to make things myself mostly or to buy handmade from local crafters-friends.
So here are my November-December online purchases.
Vintage USSR pins from theMomsattic.
A hair felt ornament, a Christmas angel embroidery and some more stuff from Laura Lupin's of Bugs and Fishes clearance at her shop.
New moo cards for my shop.
Although I wasn't happy with the first bunch of cards they sent me after I made a complaint they made a new much better enhanced bunch so I am still happy with moo.
I definitely had to have something from my dear Paula of otchipotchi. So I got some air dried lavender and a great candle holder from her shop.
Finally not online but I have to show you this year's wall calendar which is from the dog kennel we adopted our Barca from. I bought Barca a scarf too and found some second hand cd and necklace to use the beads for my jewelry.

December is here!
I was so eager to write yesterday's post about our new sea front that I forgot's that it was the first of the month and I had to add this month's page from the vintage book I had found last Christmas at a bazaar.
So here it is.
And inspite the fact that December did not start well and I am down with a bad cold but on my feet as always I am sure it will get better. So have a great month!

Calendars and diaries for the New Year!
I love keeping a diary. A handwritten one. And even my blog is like a diary to me! And I love looking at the calendar everyday. Not a virtual one but a real one on my wall next to my desk. I am so lucky to have good friends who sent me two this year.
Here they are.
From dear Kim in England, a long time pen pal I met years ago in Kent. Thanks Kim!
From my sea glass friend Andria, a seaglass inspirational calendar too. You can find one in her shop. Thanks Andria.
My diary this year is this little book which is a pupil's diary with literature texts. I bought it cheaply at the book bazaar some months ago. It does not have dates so you can write in it whenever you feel like and you can also read interesting literature texts in it every time you write.
Last weekend hubby and I offered a free shadow puppet performance at a community project in a village outside Thessaloniki to benefit poor people. There was a giveaway bazaar there too.I got some things for free among them this vintage book which I also had as a kid. It shows the seasons and months. I loved finding it again.
Winter
January(because Santa comes on New Year's Eve in Greece!)
Anyway those of you who prefer vistual calendars I will show you two lovely ones. This one is on my computer since yesterday by Geninne Zlatkis.
Or if you prefer this one by Evdokia in Haveakookie.
Enjoy the new year once again!

Calendars and diaries.
I have been keeping a diary for ages. When I was younger I used to read back my diaries and then as I found some things really silly I tore them apart and threw them away. But the last ten years or so I have been writing a diary regularly and keeping it. I am not going back to read it but I enjoy having them and being able to look up in them dates of events I have forgotten.
I also have calendars all around the house to see dates. I don't cross out days as they pass. I just look at them to find important dates like when is the next loan payment or a bill unfortunately or the next holiday fortunately!
Last Christmas I had received lots of calendars from friends and pen pals and sea glass friends and a Flower Fairies diary from my dear hubby.
This year I decided it was high time I used a perpetual diary that I had kept for ages. It was a gift given by Susanna, a cross stitch magazine, years ago and as it was so beautiful and contained cross stitch patterns I did not want to use it. But I think the economy made me to give in and use it instead of buying a new one. Anyway I am getting old why should I keep it unwritten for future generations?LOL!
So here it is....
It has beautiful paintings.....
and recipes(in Italian unfortunately)....
and cross stitch patterns.....
And here are my calendars this year. Just two.
One from Andria my sea glass friend from the States....
I love it!
And one with monthly cards with quilts from my dear pen pal Cathy from England who is a magnificent quilter.
