A book binding workshop

Last Saturday there was one more In My Closet workshop by sweet Anna in her cozy kitchen.
This time it was something we had expected for some time now.
A book binding workshop by the talented Eleanna of Aouts-pins blog.
As book binding needs patience, skill and time we were invited to split into two groups, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. I chose Saturday, made some olive muffins and went happy that it would be great! And it was!
We were eight people. Eleanna was the teacher, and Anna was the hostess who made us amazing frapuccinos and a great lemon sorbet!
The two ladies had arranged and prepared the book binding kits with all the needed tools and fabric and papers.
Also there were Georgia,Kikitsa of DIYMyDay blog, Elsa, Christina  of Celdeconail, and Angeliki of pocolocini.
And of course Vasso of metodahtilostovaso brought sweets!
First we chose the fabric we liked.
That's mine and then we were taught the technique!
Eleanna made things easy for us and we understood all the instructions.
The results were fantastic! We all made great notebooks.
Here's mine.
If you want to make one just read Eleanna's blogpost here.
Anna and Eleanna thank you again for a great workshop!
But the weekend was not over.
On Sunday we went to see what the antique market had to offer at their flea market.

I didn't buy anything as I didn't find something to really really want!
Of course coffee with the family followed.
And then I made Chinese food at my wok! Delicious!
On Sunday evening I attended an amateur group theatrical performance at our neighbourhood church where many old colleagues and mothers of former pupils took part!It was a hilarious play and we really enjoyed it!

The second week of the Easter holidays.

As we were busy with the doctors' appointments all this week, we didn't have time for much else. Apart from doing house chores,
we walked the seafront promenade a lot, us and thousands of others, enjoying the magnificent views,

I made egg salad following a recipe I found in this blog.It is a good way to use up Easter eggs, Add boiled eggs, shredded carrots, red pepper, dill, green onions, mustard, mayonaise, salt and pepper, olive oil and apple vinegar.Delicious!
I prepared some mail to post next week,
I got prepared for school that starts tomorrow,
I put away the Easter decorations and decorated my big table for spring,
we went to IKEA for some frames we needed, one for this oil painting a friend of mine made for me,
and one for the watercolour I bought from Dimitra of Decorasylum, and her etsy shop,
I made some soap following this recipe by Zina of Efzin Creations here,
I used olive oil soap base, lavender essential oil, lemon essential oil and yellow food colouring as well as a bit of lavender flowers from Portugal.
I liquidized the soap base in the microwave, added the rest of the ingredients and poured into the soap molds. You have to do the pouring very quickly!
Here they are, so easy, great looking, smelling wonderful!
We went to the beach house,
and had coffee with the family.
Whoever starts school tomorrow, have a great new start!

25th March National Holiday!

We are off school today as it is the National Holiday of 25th March 1821.
It is raining of course! So almost everywhere around Greece the parades were done under rain. It was funny that this year no bars were put around the politicians to protect them from angry civilians. People could attend the parades and enjoy them and afterwards they could dance to traditional dances! Excellent!
We didn't go to the parade. We stayed in and prepared a special dinner for the family!

Mum made her popular cod fish croquettes (salt cod nuggets)with garlic sauce, I made the salads, tomato and green salad, along with octopus salad. And the dessert orange pie.
Here are a couple of photos taken from yesterday's festivities at school.

The tsolias (Greek presidential guard) was made at school by our talented Art teacher Ms Yiota.

A new month ...

...started and it is raining for days now! I don't like it at all.
So I prefer remembering last Sunday when in the morning under the sun we had a memorial family service...
...and in the evening we had a lovely walk at the beach with amazing colours....

I made a March bracelet of course, this time with beads...it is supposed to protect your skin from the sun of March!LOL!
This week we met with an old friend of mine.
We also went to the movies and watched "Riverbanks" (Ohthes) the movie where hubby's Godson Andreas Konstandinou is starring. It was good!

I also had coffee with my friends this week. And enjoyed the hyacinths and koulouri,
coffee and quince jelly made by my friend Stella.
We did the usual power walk even in the rain...
... and I still took some photos...
...and we enjoyed coffee with the family! See the blooming tree? Spring is somewhere around the corner!

So that was all about this week! Hope you had a great week friends. And with better weather.
