The first week of February.

While watching the new policy statements by the new Greek government on television (all channels are showing this) I am trying to remember what we did this week to show you.
It's good that I have my photos to help me.
So starting from last Saturday night...

  •  we met with some shadow puppeteers and one of them invited us to his performance the next day.

  •  So last Sunday morning we attended Konstandinos Koutsouplis and his team Skies kai gelia (=Shadows and laughter) at a great shadow puppet performance with dinosaurs.

We really loved their puppets and bought some and they were very kind to give us some as gifts too. Don't you love that little mouse?

  • Then we spent an evening rallying peacefully for the Greek government and its fight against the great pressure against Greece and its debt towards Europe and the International Monetary Fund.

And as always I loved looking around me!At the gorgeous landscape of Thessaloniki.

  • We went to the cutting of the New Year's pie with the Teachers' Association Drama Club. We had fun, ate and danced and met some old friends.
  •  We kept doing our power walk for long distances every day as the cardiologist suggested to both me and hubby.

While doing power walk you can't possibly take pictures but from time to time I stop to take some pictures. And as hubby's old camera didn't prove very good I decided to take photos with my new mobile from now on until I buy a new camera. Just tell me if you like my photos better.
Especially when the weather is so good like yesterday morning the Greek light helps taking good photos I think!

And sometimes I am in such a hurry to catch a moment that my finger tip comes in front of the camera ...just like a big sun, right?
Barca loves those walks at the seafront as well because she meets friends.

And I love collecting some sea glass at the tiniest beach at the sea front!

  • Last but not least today we had coffee with the family enjoying the sun just before a huge snowstorm weather forecast.

This week I also finished a book, made a sea glass felted stone, I listened to some good music, but all that to another blogpost!
What did you do this week?

A week of CHANGE!

Although according to the Grow Your Blog instructions I shouldn't blog for a week or two so that the Grow Your Blog post comes first for people to get to know me and my blog the events around me do not allow that!
So I will blog again today.Whoever wants to learn more about me, my blog and my giveaway, should look into the previous blogpost here. Anyway thank you everyone who have visited my blog through GYB and for becoming a follower too.
As many of you might guess from the title of this blogpost this week was a very difficult week for our family and for our country.
It was a week of CHANGE!
On Tuesday my sister's-in-law father died. So on Wednesday we had a funeral. No matter how old a person is when your own father dies it is a shock. That's a big CHANGE!
Bytheway my father died in 1998 and I still remember him like he was here yesterday! I still miss him so much!
Another big change this week was the elections yesterday. It was a historical election. After so many years in Greece there is a Leftist Government. That's a big CHANGE! Having been for so many years into a financial and political crisis we are hoping for the best.

On Monday afternoon I attended a seminar on Teaching foreign languages using new technology. It was quite interesting and since my school is one of the very few in Greece that has tablets and an interactive board in one classroom and computers and projectors in three others we are considered lucky and we have to learn how to use them to teach! That's a big CHANGE!
And as technology takes over everywhere hubby thought that I needed a new mobile so he bought me a Samsung A3 for my birthday which is on the 28th. It is quite easy to use it and I can add so many new apps. I am excited! I was never excited with mobile phones! That's a big CHANGE!
This week hubby and I also had a cardiologist's check up. We are doing well, but he has to stop eating salt because of his high blood pressure and I have to walk at a fast pace for 45 minutes a day. For a person like me that never liked walking fast that's a big CHANGE! We already started walking since Monday and it feels good! But I miss my "spotting beauty around me" moments while walking at the sea front!
Today Demis Roussos died. He was a singer I really loved and had always listened to and sang his songs. When artists you remember seeing in movies or listening to their songs all your life die then you start feeling that you are getting older, right? Or do I feel like this because my birthday is this week?
That's another CHANGE!
Do you feel good with CHANGE?

Reclaiming our seafront

It was one more filled to the brim weekend. I did so much and I am so happy for managing to accomplish things having  a very bad cold as well.
Today's blogpost that starts December will be only about our new sea front.
A big part of the sea front of our city was blocked because of renovations the last couple of years. Specifically the part nearest our flat. So to take a walk or take Barca out we had to walk too far away.
Today the sea front was publicly and officially opened for the people. And we were so really happy that we walked it twice. Once late last night (unfortunately the only photos I took are on Instagram) and once today after lunch out(to celebrate hubby's birthday).
This is a heavy photo loaded blogpost, mind you!
Inspite the bad weather EVERYONE went to walk at the new sea front. We met lots of old and new friends. And we all seemed to be very happy. It was as if a big dark scarf was removed and the breeze blew in. I don't know anything about Feng Shui or anything but I am sure we were all very badly afflicted by this closed/blocked sea front! But not any more!So here it is!
Arriving there, just a stone's throw from our flat!
 Children invading the playground!
 Thousands of people walking!
 Bad weather.
Barca meeting friends.

 Hubby taking photos.Me too!

 See the thousands?
Spot the very clean wooden deck?
 No horizon line!

 Happenings.
A new spot from where you can watch the sunset.

Our umbrellas (by George Zoggolopoulos)moved a bit further down but still in our reach!
Fishermen already fishing!

 People sailing!

 I loved that one!
 Our landmarks in their place!

And some of hubby's photos!

Have a great month!
