Remembering friends.

It isn't always possible to think of friends all the time. But we should take some time off of what we hastily do every day and think of friends,old friends who are not any more in our path of lives for some reason,or even friends we often talk to or write to or hear from.I decided I will try to do that every day.
Today I wrote a letter to my old friend Ruth in Israel.We have been writing to each other for years.She has a literature blog. She reads and translates and writes books. She is so clever. I enjoy reading her book reviews and learn about books I might want to read in future.
I also took some time to photograph the marbles that Angie in Canada,a member in the sea glass sites had sent me a long time ago. She was the first to share her finds with me and send me what I didn't have at that time,marbles and red pieces and lots more.I wish she is well although we don't communicate any more.

 I know the rest of the photos might seem just the same to all of you but I find interest in my school yard every morning. I haven't yet overcome the fact that I am working on the suburbs after many years in the city and nature is beautiful and abundant everywhere around me there.

Although it rained last night today it was sunny in the morning so what better to do than walk in the sun on our beautiful seafront. There were lots and lots of people walking or cycling.

 I loved spotting all the reflections in the water pools made from last night's rain.

 There were little sailing boats of children learning how to sail.

Street sellers were selling colourful umbrellas just in case you get caught in a sudden downpour.

 The skies were blue and birds were everywhere.

 I saw shadows in the park.

 The pond was beautiful although without flowers.The wall at the back is a waterfall.

 I spotted a black bottle swimming vertically in the sea!Future sea glass!

 And lots of people take their dogs at the park too. This one was one of the biggest dogs I have ever seen.

 I know you can't really see this little fellow well but that's why I also took a video. 

More of what the mail had brought.

Last night we had fun cutting the New Year's Cake with my friends from my old school.Unfortunately the 7th Primary School does not exist any more as it closed after a major flooding.All the sudents and teachers were spread in various neighbouring schools but we manage to meet from time to time.
Today after spending a whole day looking after the plumbing and sewage problems that had affected our block of flats I felt totally exhausted to do anything but sleep.So there goes the whole day today.
I decided to show you now some more of the things I received lately.

Apart for the snowflakes I showed you yesterday Gara also sent me this lovely card which is made by
 Dottie Netherton with the Scherenschnitte technique (that's cutting paper designs with a pair of scissors). The glass dish behind the card is made by me using sea glass following an idea by Lynne, another sea glass friend.

Among other things Cathy sent me that arrived yesterday were these two vintage Acropolis and Delphi guide books Cathy had bought when she had visited Greece back in 1969 and 1971. Unbelievable that they are that old and in such good condition!

She also sent me these nail files.It took me some time to realise what they are and then I decided I am keeping them and not using them!I can't; they are so beautiful! I love poppies!

Of course she added some chocolate and they are shaped as shells!Delicious they....were!

Cathy pays so much attention to detail.Even the wrapping paper she used is fantastic!

And these are gingerbread cookies she made herself and she sent me some confectionary supplies for me to decorate them with. So here is what I did with them.I admit I wasn't very patient in sprinkling all those little stars on top!

Poppytalk Winter colours 2011 Friday silver and gold.

As this was my first time at Poppytalk's colour week I tried to post new photos taken that specific day or up to a month earlier.Otherwise I would end up with hundreds of photos and one has to monitor the time one spends in front of the computer! Not always possible. So today after school and just before going to visit my Godson in hospital again after his operation I took some close up photos for today's colours silver and gold.

 Spray painted golden shells. This was a first try I might make more of these next year.

 Golden red and green Xmas crackers sent to me by my dear friend Cathy in England for next year's celebration.

Today I received these beautiful crocheted snowflakes from dear Gara from the sea glass circle of friends.

 I tried to decide where I will have them decorated for the rest of the winter. I can't possibly keep them away till next Xmas.

 I think they look better in the second picture although the pic itself is not that good.

 The framed pictures behind the branches are flower fairies bought framed from England years ago.

 Dear Cathy's parcel also arrived today from England and it was huge. I felt like it was Xmas again and Santa had arrived. She had wrapped everything so nicely and I adored everything she sent.I will show bits and pieces in several posts.Thank you my dear dear friend and keep well!

 She even made this little patchwork pin for me!

Last but not least a handmade birthday card from Carolyn, also from England,a more recent pen friend.

Poppytalk winter colours 2011 Thursday Green

Today I spent quite a few hours in the hospital keeping company to my Godson while he is waiting to undergo an operation. We had a good time together and along with the other children in the ward we played games and read a book,talked and did puzzles. It was fun!

It is Poppytalk's Green colour today so here are a couple of my photos.

And a little bit about yesterday's performance that we watched at the National Theatre of Northern Greece(Royal Stage).

It is called "Loxandra".It is about a woman who lives in Constantinople. I have read the book and also watched the black and white TV series years ago as a kid. It brings back so many memories of my Constantinople origins and my background.Also the leading actress of the TV series Betty Valassi reminded me so much of my beloved grandma Ariadne.

Anyway yesterday's performance was excellent. Here you can read something about it.
