Our trip to the U.S.A. (10)- Harriet Beecher Stowe's Centre and Mark Twain's House

We are still on July 3rd, believe it or not!
So after the thrift store and the dump site (which many of you found very interesting if I can judge from the views and comments on that blog post) we went to Hartford, the capital city of Connecticut State.

We were there to visit the Harriet Beecher Stowe's Centre

The centre includes a visitor's centre where you get an introduction on Harriet Beecher Stowe and her hero Uncle Tom. That's where we started our tour.

Of course I had my book with me! That was my reading in the States.

Then we took a guided tour inside Harriet Beecher Stowe's house where photography was not allowed.

We were welcomed by a little hare.
Then we followed a guided tour inside Mark Twain's house who lived there for 17 years.
Again no photography. But you can see about it here.

Then we visited Mark Twain's Museum.

There was this interesting ancient exhibit that belonged to Mark Twain and it was supposed to be a Parthenon marble but there was also an explanation that it probably wasn't.

I really loved this sculpture of all Mark Twain's characters.

Of course Mark Twain is holding Tom Sawyer!

Mark Twain was also made out of Lego bricks.

And of course there was a very interesting museum shop! With this huge frog!
 I loved that glass octopus.
 There were cross stitch kits.

 In general we had fun!

And we walked a bit around the gardens afterwards too.

(to be continued)
