Stillness

I am borrowing the title from this week's word prompt of the blog Our Beautiful World.
It is a blog dedicated to beautiful photography where you can link your own blogposts and photographs.
Today I am linking with them with a series of photos I took on a period of 15 days of Yeni Cami (New Mosque),an old mosque and now a gallery exhibition venue in my neighbourhood. Passing in front of this building every day makes me think of its beauty regardless of the weather conditions and of its longevity despite the changes in its use. And it makes me reflect on the changes in our lives, on the circles we close, on new beginnings we make and how mortal we are in comparison to buildings. We should never forget that!

This blogpost is dedicated to Evangelia, my ex student and daughter of a friend, who died in a tragic car accident a year ago at the age of 18. We attended a memorial service yesterday morning.

Ariadne,
A beautiful building indeed, today a gallery, yesterday a mosque, and tomorrow, who knows? Yes, life is short and we leave as we came, taking nothing with us. So very sorry to hear about Evangelia's fatal accident. She must be remembered.
