Our sweet and sour honeymoon!

We are back from our honeymoon to Lefkada island!
We are so so lucky! I thank God for that!
We had booked our honeymoon a couple of months ago and so we went to Lefkada island afterall.
While there we heard the bad news. Capital control and banks closed!
Fortunately we had prepaid our trip and we had enough cash to eat lunch and dinner and enough petrol in the car to return!
I admit we saw a lot of beautiful places and had a great time although under the shadow of the financial crisis.
I want to share all this but I am not in the best of moods right now.
I will show you a few photos though! I will blog in detail later in time.
I would like to thank all of my friends who are supportive of us and our country at present. You don't know how much this means to us.
Day one Friday 26th June....Towards Lefkada....
 ...sketching in the car....
...our room view at Florena Hotel at Nikiana village....an excellent hotel with amazing service.....
...first evening a walk at Nydri, Madouri islet opposite...
Day Two Saturday 27th June...leaving Nydri for a cruise on the islands the next day ...
 ...storm approaching.....
...Agiofili beach just moments before the storm....
...storm but we were quickly safe in the boat Macedonia Palace....
 ....Fiscardo Kefalonia....
 ...Papanikolis cave....
Day Three Sunday 28th June....Lefkada town....
 ....Kathisma beach.....
 ....waterfalls near Nydri....
Day Four Monday 29th June... we took the cruise again for free because of the bad weather conditions on Saturday..... Egremni beach, one of the most famous beaches in the world.....
 ...Porto Katsiki.....
 ...Fiscardo again....
 ...Ithaca island.....

Day Five Tuesday 30th June...on the way back we went to Preveza and Parga....
Parga
From then on and till we reached Thessaloniki it was raining cats and dogs............
I'd love to go back to Lefkada one day without the fear of bankruptcy and a looming referendum....

First off, Ariadne, I would like to say how sorry I am that things are so bad in your country. I hope that they improve soon. On a happier note, how lucky that you had everything prepaid and had some cash with you. Beautiful photos and oh, you went to Ithaca, Odysseus' home! Love your sketchbook, too.

What a beautiful place. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous photos with us. So sad that your trip was overshadowed by the financial situation but I hope you were able to celebrate your marriage with happiness. You certainly chose a beautiful place for your honeymoon.

Ariadne, This is only the second time I have seen your blog. The first was of your wedding. I found you through another blog and came over and am following you. First of all, I am so happy you have someone in your life that you love and that loves you. I live on a small island off the east coast of Puerto Rico and by choice I do not have a TV as it distracts me from my goals. Therefore, I have only seen a little about Greece on the internet. Is there anything we can do for you? Please do not hesitate to let us know. My email is nancythedove@aol.com Blessings
