I am dedicating the song The end by The Doors to the people of my neighbourhood.
This week after many many years the building of OTE (Hellenic Communications Organization) closed down. End of an era? Bad omen for worse things to come in this financial crisis in Greece?
I know that this building being here brought people in our neighbourhood and life. People came to work here. People came to do business here, pay bills here.
Now and as most shops in the street near the building have closed down too and stay empty and sad looking I wonder what is coming next.
Hubby took the photos while the signs outside the building were being taken down.

Εγώ σκέφτηκα ένα άλλο κομμάτι
"It's the end of the world as we know it" αλλά δεν το συνεχίζω μέχρι το "and I feel fine"! Την καλησπέρα μου
ποσα ακομη θα φτασουν στο τελος τους; ειναι πολυ long αυτη η φαση Αριαδνη..
αναρωτιεμαι, θα υπαρξει αραγε μια μερα στο μελλον που θα τα θυμομαστε ολα αυτα σαν ενα κακο παρελθον;

So sad to see.
It is so sad! It breaks my heart when I see so many businesses go bankrupt in Brittany and so many of my pupils' parents unemployed. I think you must feel the same about Greece.
Very sad and scary and maddening, indeed. Some parts of Heraklion have become ghost towns. Silent, empty and gone.
